28. Paris - Musée Picasso

We walked to the newly restored Musée National Picasso in the 3rd Arr. Paul likes modern art.

Born in Malaga in 1881, Picasso initially lived and studied in Spain before exploring first in Barcelona and then in Paris the lively, colourful and expressive world of post-impressionism with Van Gogh, Cézanne, Toulouse-Lautrec. He lived and worked through two violent wars.

Some of his early work was lovely and easily appreciated.

As was some later work like this painting of his son playing with a truck. He had a second family after World War II and in 1948 moved to the south of France to live and work.

I found most of the works to be too difficult to understand.  I asked Paul to send me his favourite painting and he said he couldn't decide between this one.......

This one .....

This one ....

And this one.

What I really liked was this Modigliani from Picasso's own private collection........

And a glass of wine in the late afternoon sun on the roof terrace.
